History

''The falling stars' counting'' idea was born 10 years ago. Usually I used to spend just one or two nights at home. Most of the nights I was lying on the high hill so that the wide sky and nice mist could be seen. Therefore I was angry with the people who sleep at that time and can't see the beauty of the night. We started just two. But year by year it's getting more and more romantic ''stars' counters'' :. There was one ''counter'' from The North sea last year. Ambassadors in Finland, Switzerland, Norway, Armenia, Georgia and might be India are expected to participate this year! So now there is a tradition to count stars the last night of summer.

Rules & Instructions

  1. You lie down on very high mountain or hill (in worst case use your balcony/terrace..) to get as better visibility of the sky as possible.
  2. Remember all of your friends who you agreed to count stars with, and make them short calls 3 times. That means the start of the 'game' :. Your friends can be everywhere - on the hill next to you or in some other continent.
  3. When you see a start falling down, give a short call to all of your friends (see item No.2) straight away. You also can send nice sms and make your friends happy :.
  4. 'Star counting' can last from just10 minutes until the early morning.
  5. If you are not alone on the hill/mountain, try not to speak. Listen and hear the night!
  6. When finished counting, you need again to call your friends (same friends who you been calling to whole night : ) 3 times.

Advices

  • Don't make noise! We are just guests. Animals or other living beeings are hosts here. Respect them!
  • Take warm sleeping bags and clothes - evenings are getting chilly in autumn. If you decide to stay overnight, don't forget to cover your sleeping bag (you can use a piece of plastic/polythene.. or some other waterproof stuff : ) - you'll be saved from humidity/moisture
  • To count stars is better lying on the hill where there are no trees/bushes. You will be able to see much more stars if there is no bright light sources around you as well.

Homework

The most important task for you is item No. 2 (see 'Rules & Instructions'). Think about the people that you love and familiarize them with rules to avoid any confusion and to get maximum pleasure enjoying the night. :

In the morning

It is essential to write where the stars' counting took place (point out exactly country, region, distict etc.). Please send to: romantikai@gamtoj.com. We will sum up the results and draw the map which you will be able to see here: www.romantikai.gamtoj.com You also welcome to write in brief your impressions or send us some photos of the night (romantikai@gamtoj.com). The most impressive moments will be definitely placed into this site.

The texts of messages sent in Vilnius from hill to hill and to Armenia and back, at the last day of summer, last night, while watching the falling stars: Vahagn, a guy, after about 20 minutes of watching the sky on barbakan hill, midnight:

“I didn’t see any falling star yet… But I see how the last day of summer is falling into the mystical bucket called Past, and how all the stars are also falling into it, slowly.. And I also felt that I should look at the sky more often. Vahagn”

(from Armenia, currently in Vilnius)

Milda, a girl, also after about 20 minutes of watching the sky on other side of Barbakan hill, midnight:

“I didn’t see any falling star as well. Probably I will see this later. Did you know that in winter falling stars make sound? Enjoy J”

Hasmik, a girl, sitting somewhere on a hill in Yerevan city, Armenia, midnight:

“I haven’t seen it as wellLLL and I am too sad now, singing about this moment “erb chkayin bardzrahark shenqer, erkinqy shat er, shat er mets… (translation from Armenian: “when there were no skyscrapers yet, the sky was much, much bigger!..”)”

Justinas, a guy, on another hill in Vilnius, watching the stars, midnight:

“Now sitting on the hill and looking to the falling stars, I feel the connection between the universe and the ground beneath me. Maybe we all are life trees?..”

Vahagn replied to Justinas:

“Yes we all are in a way life trees, or at least walking trees:). We are connected to each other, to the sky, to the destiny. But we also have 50 percent freedom of action. We chose to use it this way this evening. NiceJ”

zvaigzdziavimas paskutine vasaros nakti buvo nuostabus. Kodel anksciau nesudalyvaudavau?... : )

As buvau numines iki Bradeliskiu piliakalnio prie Dukstu, Vilniaus raj., Neries reg. parkas. (ypac islindus is miegmaisio 6.30 val.) Nors buvo saltoka piliakalni palikau tik 7.30. Vilniu pasiekiau 9 val. ir prizadinau kambarioka: )

Niu... Faina :)

Pradzioj baugu buvo...

Buvau pasiryzusi kopti i auksciausia Ounasvaaros vieta, bet kazkaip issigandusi tamaus misko nutariau pakoreguti "ziadimo taisykles" ir apisistojau kalvos papedej. Krupciodama nuo kiekvieno pasalinio garso susirangiau ant suoliuko ir isistebeilijau i dangu.

Galvojau: Ka as cia veikiu? Gyvenime i tokias avantiuras nedileidziu!

:)))

Faina :)

Reik dazniau taip :)

Pries miega bent 15 min pasiziureti i dangu :)))

Biški netikėtai ir aš sudalyvavau veiksme :)
